Dental self healing, regeneration & regrowth of teeth and gums
A subject not much discussed in mainstream media, the following pages feature quotes, real-life stories, research and advice on the capacity of the human dentition and gums to regenerate, remineralize, self-heal and regrow. Doctors and dentists, researchers and private persons give facts, opinions, observations, testimonies and recommendations testifying to the in-built ability of the human teeth and gums to restore their integrity to one degree or another.
Dental decay is frequently a reversible process, similar to the daily "building up" and "tearing down" of parts of the tooth enamel (see Demineralisation-Remineralisation).
Personally I believe - and my experience has shown me - that even seriously damaged teeth will respond to good "treatment" (food, cleaning etc.) and can be regenerated to various degrees - at least to the point where they can be near-normally used1. For some dramatic first-person accounts and real-life stories regarding tooth and gum self-healing, see Personal Experiences & Testimonials.
