Testimonial: oil pulling cures advanced gum disease with bone loss
Oil pulling using organic sunflower and coconut oil has healed serious gum disease?
The following is a testimonial I found some time ago on the internet. My recent (July 2010) attempt to verify and trace its source was futile since it seems to simply have vanished. I include it in Healing Teeth Naturally's Healing Testimonials however since I believe it to be genuine, and because personally, I believe in oil pulling being a worthwhile path to better oral health, with the fixing of loose teeth being one of the numerous virtues ascribed to this simple DIY practice and oil pulling's beneficial effect on caries and plaque-induced gingivitis already having been established (see Scientific studies into oil pulling's dental health benefits). All this nonwithstanding, I cannot vouch for the authenticity of this report. So as with any likely "controversial" practices and modalities featured on Healing Teeth Naturally, the reader's attention is drawn to the Disclaimer. If you suffer from serious periodontal disease, I would make sure to read the herbal and other healing testimonials featured below, the authenticity of which can be verified.
"CURE FOR GUM DISEASE!!!
I had a terrible case of gum disease. I lost about 70% of my bone. The good news is I knew in the back of my mind there was a simple way to cure this issue. I began doing ‘Oil Pulling’ and 'AVC’1.
After oil pulling with organic sunflower oil and organic coconut oil3 my gum disease is gone, my teeth are strong, my gums are growing back and my teeth are white. I went back to the dentist to have my gums measured and they went from 6 and 8s to 1 and 3… very normal.2 I bypassed the $1000 scaling cost."
Footnotes by Healing Teeth Naturally
1 AVC: I am not sure what the writer is referring to but I consider it likely s/he means Virgin Coconut Oil.
2 The numbers the writer is mentioning refer to the periodontal pocket charts used by dentists, dental hygienists etc. and describe gum pocket depth (the lower the number the better, with 1-3mm depth being considered normal).
3 For reasons why coconut oil may be helpful for teeth, compare Another tooth-friendly oil? Virgin coconut oil.
